Dr. Kathryn M. Wilson, Sc.D., from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health spoke about prostate cancer screening recommendations. In particular, she discussed baseline testing and went over studies comparing prostate cancer rates between White and Black men. Getting the baseline PSA test early in life can help determine each man’s risk for prostate cancer. Those with a high baseline PSA level will need more frequent testing while those with low PSA levels can wait longer before undergoing further prostate cancer screenings.
