PHEN’s Eat Right to Live! How Diet Can Influence Your Prostate Cancer Journey managing survivorship webinar featured speaker Dr. Lorelei Mucci, professor of epidemiology at the Harvard School of Public Health. The presentation began with PHEN’s Director of Clinical Trials and Patient Education Dr. Keith Crawford explaining the benefits of plant-based diets and the top plant-based foods for prostate cancer survivors.

Dr. Mucci described how many prostate cancer patients share factors that put them at risk of cardiovascular disease. However, the right diet can have benefits for cardiovascular health, cancer prevention, healthy aging, and may even preserve cognitive function, she explained. In particular, Dr. Mucci focused on the advantages of the Mediterranean diet and the plant-based diet and answered audience questions.

PHEN Ambassador Dr. James Smith discussed treatment options for metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer during the webinar. Prostate cancer survivor and PHEN Ambassador Tony Hill also discussed how diet impacted his prostate cancer survivorship.
