As part of PHEN’s Charlotte Disparity Rally, Rev. Dr. Clifford A. Jones, Sr., the Senior Pastor at the Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, covered the statistics detailing the major prostate cancer disparities between White and Black men. For instance, Black men die from this disease at a rate more than two times higher than White men. However, access to early detection screening can help reduce these disparities.
“Prostate cancer is a crisis within the Black community,” said Rev. Dr. Jones. “It doesn’t have to be like this. Knowledge about early detection and treatment is key in beating prostate cancer, and it can be beaten.”
