At the 2016 Annual African American Prostate Cancer Disparity Summit, Dr. J. Jacques Carter from the Harvard Medical School described the controversial decision from the US Preventive Services Task Force to recommend no screening for prostate cancer. This led to a very negative outcome for many Black men who no longer screened regularly and were, once again, found to have increased rates of more aggressive, late-stage disease. Dr. Carter introduced the people who were there to discuss ways to overcome this challenge facing prostate cancer awareness.
