Keith Crawford, MD, PhD, Director of Clinical Trials and Patient Education at PHEN, expressed his excitement about a focus on prostate cancer treatments and clinical trials during the third session of PHEN’s 21st African American Prostate Cancer Disparity Summit. Educating the public, including prostate cancer patients and survivors, on breakthrough treatments and clinical trials helps PHEN reach its objective of saving lives and closing the racial disparity gap behind this disease.
Dr. Crawford introduced two key leaders in the clinical trial space. These speakers include Dr. Richard Lee from Mass General Hospital and Dr. Alicia Morgans from the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. He also outlined how this session will help patients learn about PHEN resources and tools to better understand clinical trials and treatments. He mentioned how clinical trial participants and prostate cancer survivors will shared their stories.
“We bring in the patients because we want you to hear patient stories. When you hear their stories, you’ll see how impactful their stories are to our lives and our journeys and may inspire you to take that next step to participate in a clinical trial,” said Dr. Crawford.
