PHEN Director of Clinical Trials and Patient Education Dr, Keith Crawford explains in this video five different prostate cancer treatment options for patients including chemotherapy, radiopharmaceuticals, AR-targeted therapy, immunotherapy, and PARP inhibitors. In this presentation, the focus was on AR-targeted therapy. Dr. Crawford introduced Chelsie Ferrell, PA, a physician assistant at the Advanced Urology Institute.
Ms. Ferrell went over the role androgens play in prostate cancer development and the overall process of disease progression. She explained that prostate cancer is the most common cancer found in men and is the second leading cause of cancer death. Further, she discussed the symptoms and risk factors behind this disease as well as diagnosis via blood-based PSA tests, digital rectal exams, and prostate biopsies. Ms. Ferrell also answered audience questions at the end of the presentation.
