PHEN Director of Community Partnership Development and Outreach Rev. Adrian Backus hosted the Heroes in Memoriam presentation at the 2024 Prostate Cancer Disparity Summit. This presentation honored numerous PHEN supporters including Congressman Gregory Meeks from New York, former Senator and US Secretary of State John Kerry from Massachusetts, and former Congressman Edolphus Towns from New York.
Rev. Backus also recognized several PHEN Ambassadors including Dr. Artie Shelton from Olney, Maryland, Mr. Raymond Fuller from Boston, Massachusetts, and Mr. Jerry Womack from Charlotte, North Carolina. Several heroes in memoriam were honored at the summit, including:
- Dr. Golden H. Bethune-Hill from Newport News, Virginia
- Mr. Paul Covington from New York City, New York
- Mr. Lloyd Cox from Boston, Massachusetts
- Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee from Houston, Texas
- Mr. Joe Madison from Washington, D.C.
- Dr. Edith P. Mitchell from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
- Congressman Donald Payne, Jr. from Newark, New Jersey
