Dr. Richard Lee reviews more than two decades of progress in treating advanced prostate cancer. He explains how androgen-deprivation therapy, chemotherapy, newer hormonal treatments, PARP inhibitors and radioligand therapies have expanded the options available to patients.
Dr. Lee also discusses disease stages, genetic testing, treatment side effects and the role clinical-trial participants have played in bringing today’s therapies into practice. He examines continuing racial disparities while emphasizing that equitable access to screening, diagnosis and high-quality care can improve outcomes for Black men.
During the conversation, Dr. Lee and Dr. Keith Crawford also address exercise, nutrition, caregiver observations and the importance of reporting treatment side effects to the medical team.
