Reviewing Emerging Clinical Trials with Dr. Keith Crawford

Keith Crawford, MD, PhD, Director of Clinical Trials and Patient Education at PHEN, presented on emerging clinical trials at PHEN’s 2025 African American Prostate Cancer Disparity Summit on September 17th. He first introduced how patients can use PHENTrials.com and the Find-Your-Trial (FYT) tool to discover clinical trials they may be eligible for based on their diagnoses and locations.

“If, for example, you have metastatic castration-resistant disease and you live in, let’s say, Georgia, we [enter the information on the FYT tool]”, explains Dr. Crawford. “What this does is give you all the actively recruiting clinical trials in the state of Georgia.”

“It’s complicated, but we keep it simple. That’s what PHEN does. It takes complicated information and then translates it into simple form where you can understand the drug summary [and] where it’s [clinical trial is] located,” he continued.

Dr. Crawford outlined several clinical trials and patient summaries available on PHENTrials.com including the ARASTEP patient summary, the Xalute clinical trial, the Omaha patient summaries, and the MEVPRO-1, -2, and -3 patient clinical trials. He went over the eligibility information, length of trials, stages of the trials, sponsors including Pfizer and Amgen, and the investigational medications that participants take. He outlined the controls of each trial, and any previous treatments eligible participants may have had.
