Dr. Keith Crawford Presents on Prostate Cancer Treatments and ADT

PHEN’s Director of Clinical Trials and Patient Education Dr. Keith Crawford went over Androgen Deprivation Therapy (ADT) and how it works by lowering androgen levels including testosterone. He also mentioned other prostate cancer treatments like chemotherapy, surgery and radiation, immunotherapy, targeted radioligand therapy, and precision medicine therapies.

Dr. Crawford detailed the side effects of ADT including hot flashes, anemia, erectile dysfunction, high blood pressure, and higher risks for stroke and diabetes. He also mentioned that hormone therapy is not necessary for early-stage prostate cancers and combining hormone therapies may improve outcomes.
